Mission accomplished

The ENCQOR 5G project was a transformative partnership between Canada, Quebec and Ontario focused on research and innovation in 5G disruptive technologies, as well as adoption initiatives and system uses.

ENCQOR has set up a network of 5G test beds, giving companies of all sizes, IT professionals, public and private sector researchers and post-graduate students rapid access to a state-of-the-art 5G development and testing platform for prototyping new products and services. ENCQOR 5G is supported by 5 innovation centers in Quebec and Ontario, located respectively in Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Waterloo.

First and foremost, the program has succeeded in achieving its objectives of developing a world-class collaborative platform to accelerate the transition to 5G technology. ENCQOR 5G has mobilized a vast ecosystem of SMEs, industry and government players, as well as university researchers in Quebec and Ontario, to contribute to the creation and commercialization of disruptive new products, processes and services.

ENCQOR has come a long way since its earliest beginnings. As of March 31, 2023, some 860 companies from a multitude of sectors in Quebec and Ontario, more than 1,000 student interns, dozens of researchers, stakeholder communities including cities, museums, construction sites, farmers, carriers, multimedia players and wireless service providers had taken part in one form or another in the program.
